Kona Koko Brown Ale
The alcohol content on this is 5.5% and the label reads: Ale brewed with toasted coconut and natural flavors “added” – not sure if that means its brewed with these natural flavors, or if they are added after the fermentation process. The description is Koko Brown’s distinct, nutty aroma and flavor comes from real, toasted coconut blended into each brew. One sip is smooth, mahogany colored ale and you’ll fee like your on a warm, sun-drenched beach in Hawaii. Not sure about the grammar on this one either. As much as I am a fan of the Kona Brewing Company, this one is probably my least favorite so far. I know they keep coming out with new ones, and I will keep tasting them.
This one almost tasted like a chocolate coconut candy bar. For some that is a great thing, but when I am having a beer, I prefer something more “beer like” rather than cocktail-ish. It is not sweet by any means, the fact that its a darker beer there is a nice bitterness, but the coconut and chocolate are there. If nothing else, this for sure makes it to your next Tiki/Polynesian/Hawaiian themed party just for kicks.
